Who would not like to enjoy a charming rural accommodation in the middle of a beautiful natural space, with the possibility of walking beautiful hiking trails, visiting picturesque towns and practicing cultural and gastronomic tourism?

You are in luck! Today I bring you a series of accommodations that, due to their strategic location, surrounded by mountains, villages and natural spaces of great beauty, I find that are especially recommended for hiking enthusiasts in the mountains of the Costa Blanca (province of Alicante).

In addition, the accommodations that I have selected have liked me for their facilities, their style, their decoration … as well as their respect for the environment and the cultural heritage of the area in which they are located.

They are unique, charming accommodations, and will allow you to enjoy a complete weekend (or a multi-day getaway) combining delicious local cuisine, with cultural visits, and of course hiking trails.

Are you ready to meet some of the best accommodations in the province of Alicante, especially recommended for hikers? Let’s get started, then!!

1. Refugio Marnes, in Benissa

9.3 on Booking.com
4.7/5

Located in a mountainous area in the municipality of Benissa, very close to the Serra de Bèrnia and at the foot of the Sierra de la Solana, this rural accommodation offers various spaces for people seeking a total disconnection within nature.

The Refugio Marnes agrotourism has rooms in bed and breakfast mode in a restored old farm, where the old terraces have been preserved with their typical trees: almond, carob and olive trees.

In addition to the main building, Refugio Marnes has a separate house with capacity for 4 people, as well as a luxurious tent hidden among the trees, where guests can enjoy the concept of “glamping” (luxurious camping).

Hiking routes and more

From Refugio Marnes it is very easy to get to “Cases de Bèrnia”, the usual starting point of the circular route around the emblematic Sierra de Bèrnia mountain range.

It is also worth going to see the old town of Benissa, getting lost in its streets and, why not, getting to know the beautiful coves that this town of Marina Alta hides through its ecological path along the coast.

2. Can Elisa, country apartments in Tàrbena

9.8 on Booking.com
4.9/5

Let’s start with one of my favorites in this list. The accommodation with the best views in Costa Blanca mountains? May well be…

Have you heard of Tàrbena? In the heart of the mountains of the Marina Baixa, we find this beautiful village with Mallorcan roots, where the tradition of making sobrasada is still preserved, and its people speak with the “article salat”. A town surrounded by some of the most emblematic mountain ranges, and the deepest canyons in the Alicante geography. Well, it is on the surroundings of Tàrbena where this accommodation is located. A charming rural accommodation, run by a friendly Dutch couple.

It is an old country house that has been rehabilitated and converted into 2 small independent apartments that have all the comforts and incredible views towards the Serra de Bèrnia and Ferrer, declared protected landscape in 2006.

I was fortunate to know this accommodation in person, and I have to tell you that I was fascinated by its location, sheltered by my beloved Bèrnia. But it is also that Jasper and Elisa have been able to create unique and very cozy space.

Any lover of the mountains of Alicante, would be happy to spend a few days in Can Elisa.

Hiking trails and more

The star of the area would be the aforementioned Serra de Bèrnia. But the surroundings of Tàrbena gives much more of itself, and we have very surprising places nearby such as Els Arcs d’Atanços in Castell de Castells, or Fonts de l’Algar, in Callosa d’en Sarrià.

3. Masía La Mota, luxury hotel in Alcoi

9.1 on Booking.com
4.6/5

Let’s go to the emblematic city of Alcoy (Alcoi), surrounded by natural landscapes of exceptional beauty, riding between the Sierras del Menejador and the Serra de Mariola (both declared natural park).

Within the Natural Park of Carrascar de la Font Roja we find this charming, luxury rural hotel called “Masía la Mota”.

It is an old country house, rehabilitated to offer all the comforts, in a unique natural environment and an environment of great tranquility.

Masía La Mota offers 10 double rooms decorated in a personalized way, as well as an excellent restaurant where you can taste local and seasonal cuisine.

Hiking trails

As I said, and thanks to its excellent location, we can enjoy hiking trails in the Natural Park of Carrascar de la Font Roja, or in the Serra de Mariola, with emblematic excursions such as the climb to Montcabrer peak, third summit in height of the province.

For all these reasons, and others that I encourage you to discover, Masía la Mota will undoubtedly be an excellent choice to enjoy a weekend of hiking, gastronomy (with an excellent restaurant in the accommodation itself) and relax.

4. La Font d'Alcalà, Vall d'Alcalà

9.4 on Booking.com
4.7/5

We now travel to the heart of the Marina Alta region, to what were the domains of the Arab leader Al-Azraq: Vall d’Alcalà is one of the beautiful interior valleys of the Marina Alta.

It is a very mountainous region, furrowed by deep ravines and where abundant fountains flow. An area where we can visit some of the most important unpopulated Moorish in our geography, such as l’Atzuvieta.

It is here, in this land of legends, in the beautiful village of Alcalà de la Jovada, where we find the charming rural hotel La Font d’Alcalà.

This unique hotel has 16 rooms, equipped with every comfort, and decorated with elegant simplicity and good taste. It also highlights its restaurant, where you can enjoy a cuisine that perfectly combines creativity with tradition, and always paying homage to local and local products.

Hiking trails and more

Vall d’Alcalà offers many alternatives in terms of hiking trails and cultural visits. I invite you to visit the article that I published in the blog entitled “A weekend in the Vall d’Alcalà” (in Spanish) to know all the details.

5. Cases Noves, El Castell de Guadalest

9.9 on Booking.com
4.7/5

The Guadalest Valley, in the Marina Baixa region, can boast of being one of the most beautiful in Alicante’s geography. A valley escorted by some of the most emblematic mountain ranges of the province, such as the Serra d’Aitana, the Serrella or the Xortà. And all this, a few kilometers from Benidorm, on the coast.

In this fantastic natural setting, and more specifically in the picturesque town of El Castell de Guadalest, is where we find the rural hotel Cases Noves, which can boast of being the first rural accommodation to enter into operation in this tourist town of the Alicante mountain.

Cases Noves has been recognized on numerous occasions as the best rated accommodation in all of Spain in portals such as Booking, TripAdvisor, Trivago…

Something that is not surprising if we take into account the fantastic views of the Guadalest Valley that can be observed from its terrace, where breakfast and dinner are served.

Hiking in the Vall de Guadalest

The location of Cases Noves is excellent to combine with the practice of hiking trails, being one step away from the beginning of classic routes such as the climb to the Serra d’Aitana, the Circuit around the Guadalest Reservoir, the circular of the Serra de Bèrnia or one of the many possible routes in the rugged Serra de la Serrella.

6. Mardenit, adults-only in Orba

9.5 on Booking.com
4.7/5

In the northern part of the province of Alicante, in the interior of the Marina Alta region, you probably have not heard of the small town of Orba. However, we are very close to the Vall de Laguar, and one of the most famous hiking trails in the territory of Spain: the Barranc de l’Infern hiking trail, known by the nickname “the cathedral of hiking”.

Mardenit is a rural accommodation that perfectly combines tradition and modernity, as evidenced by its terrace with private jacuzzi and views of the old town of Orba. The entire establishment has the category of adults only, and has 5 themed rooms equipped with all comforts.

Hiking trails

We are in an area with wide possibilities for hiking enthusiasts. From the aforementioned Barranc de l’Infern route, passing by the nearby Pedreguer trail or the also nearby Montgó Natural Park. As for the cultural attractions of the area, be sure to visit the Cueva de las Calaveras in Benidoleig or the clay museum in Orba.

7. MasQi, the energy house, in Banyeres de Mariola

9.2 on Booking.com
4.6/5

Located in a natural environment of great beauty and environmental value such as the Serra de Mariola, this unique accommodation offers us a complete wellness and personal care proposal: from the practice of yoga and meditation, to a bio-gourmet diet, including massages and oriental therapies. All this accompanied by the silence, calm and tranquility provided by its unique location, surrounded by the nature of the emblematic natural park.

Hiking, nature and more

The natural environment of the Serra de Mariola Natural Park offers endless possibilities to enjoy hiking: the source of Vinalopó river, the Route of the Mills of Banyeres… these are just some of the routes that we can discover in the area, placing our “base camp” in MasQi.
